‘WOW’ is all I can say –  ‘Wonderful Oprah Winfrey’

Jim Pattison, Oprah, George Stroum..., Richard DolanLast night I had the amazing opportunity to see the famed Super Woman up close…

I entered the WestJet Contest to win tickets to see her. Though that didn’t happen, something even better did!  I got a call from my son saying there was a Backstage Pass for me to see Oprah in Vancouver if I wanted to go. After I picked myself off the floor, I said ‘are you kidding me?’  He gave me the name & number of a good friend of his. I called Momma Liz and she gave me the details.

Like Oprah’s Soul Sunday talks about if a book drops pay attention… Well a book didn’t drop, a call came (a whisper in my ear) and I listened. I took action and walked thru the door with tremendous anticipation and gratitude in my heart. I was going to see one of my ‘Mentors‘!

I got to see Ms Winfrey come through the back stage hall of Rogers Arena dressed like a ‘flame’ ready to light up the room!  I saw the attentive and pleasant security guards, sound & set crew on walky talkys and cell phones communicating instructions and buzzing around quietly – almost unseen – ensuring the show everyone was about to enjoy came off without a hitch.

I got to be a ‘fly on the wall’ behind the scenes watching the much awaited arrival of Oprah. She arrived after another wardrobe change – this time dressed like an ember – you know the quiet burn that warms you long after the flames die down.  I sat behind a pleasant, calm, older but clearly strong Mr. Jim Pattison who introduced the surprise guest – Mr Stedman Graham.  I got to see the shock and joy on Oprah’s face as she saw him take centre stage. I saw the crew beam with pride at a job well done.  I saw the teleprompter screens scroll. The magic began!

Though I personally didn’t get to meet Oprah, she touched me with rays of warmth and inspiration to break down my own self built walls.  Seems strange that though I do this for a living ‘move walls’ with many different spaces and I help my clients see past them to the possibilities and vision I see for them… sometimes you can’t see the forest for the trees in front of you!

All I can say is I went, I was touched by the humanness of Oprah and the thousands of fans that cheered her and sang ‘Happy Birthday’.  My version of ‘Fear’ – of either Success or Failure – is really False Evidence Appearing Real – if – you listen to the whisper in your ear and the sensation in your gut!

Thank you, thank you, thank you…
